We both undertake Continuing Professional Development as required by Doula UK and Nurturing Birth. In the last few months we have updated our Paediatric First Aid and attended a webinar on Hyperemesis Gravidarum.
Eleanor
My name is Eleanor, most people call me Els.
I was born in 1974 and married in 1999. I have 3 children (born in 2000, 2002, and 2005). I live on the Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire border with my husband, 2 Labradors and 2 cats.
I spent the first 14 years of my working life in the recruitment industry, which has developed my natural ability to listen to what people want and then to support them to try and achieve it.
From my own experience, I know how different types of treatment can make a huge difference to the person’s perception of the labour, and I also know that it will stay with you for years.
Sophie
I was born in 1969 and trained as a nanny at Norland in 1990/1. I worked for several families in London, including one for 22 years where I stayed until the youngest went to university. The oldest now has a baby of his own and I love seeing him and his wife with their son. I live in Buckinghamshire, where I grew up, with one very spoilt cat! All my working life has been spent working closely with families. As the nanny family children got older, I also worked as a Teaching Assistant, going on to becoming the Marketing Manager at an independent school in London.
